Torture?
I cannot sit by and let this letter go by without an answer. First of all, this is all about 'waterboarding,' and has nothing to do with "pedophilia' and "incest," --in the name of "Dick Chenny and his ilk." Waterboarding is indeed a scarry thing, but it was done in an extreme case, as a last resort, and with medical supervision. It left no lasting efffects on the recipient. It DID SAVE THOUSANDS OF INNOCENT AMERICAN LIVES! Thank God, Barack Obama was not president at that time. However, I would like to think that even Obama would have done the same thing that the Bush administration did, if he had been in the same shoes. The problem here is, people take no heed in numbers of lives saved, but only those who have already died. --dc

God is the Word
Talking to Christians:
Yes. With God, we have no privacy, and that is a good thing. We do not want to grieve the Holy Spirit. (Eph. 4:30).
24/7 God consciousness is what I try for; God is in us and with us. Whatever we say or do, do all in the name of the Lord. To see and hear God, we need to be tuned in. Bill Williams certainly seems to be tuned in to the beautiful Word of God. When I am pondering something, I love it when God's Word, or a great sermon, or lesson, just pops into my head. I praise and thank God, because I know that I am not that smart, in my own limitations. What really amazes me, is realizing that it didn't come from any book that I had read. Think about the people who write good books. Where did the good thoughts or lessons come from?
God's Word is living! Our telephones have 10 digits, but see how many combinations can be derived from them. Whatever our circumstance or condition, God's Word has the answer. "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." (John 1:1). --dc
Christianity is about Jesus Christ
Pop — Christianity, and what people do, even in the name of Christianity, are often two different things. When I say Christianity, I am talking about what Jesus Christ taught, and did. Not only are two persons of the same sex not to have sexual relations together, –neither is a man and a woman to have sex together, who are not married to each other. Either way, it takes self control and can be frustrating. Will you trust God, or men? If you believe there is no God, you must be blind. If you believe that the Bible and science are at odds with each other, you are ill taught. If you care, you will seek, and if you seek you will find. Will you be forever lost? Will you grow old, without hope? If you die from Aids, or whatever, –don’t blame God. -dc

About same sex marriage in this country
We started way back by taking God out of our schools; teaching the big lie, saying that the Bible and science are at odds with each other. Now we have no qualms about taking God out of our country. This country was founded on Christian principles, and we have been deeply blessed. Now they want to throw it all in the toilet. Christians put your armour on! The sword of the Spirit is the Word of God.

On the teachings of Jesus Christ and the Bible New Testament, God's new covenant to man, which was sealed forever by His blood on the cross. "And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him." (Col. 3:17). --dc

The 'Rosies of Dover' story...

Fun and Truth
Something missing in the 'Rosies of Dover' story...
Posted 5/26/2009 5:16 PM EDT on dailyrecord.com
This is astounding! The article is all about: "'Rosies of Dover' being honored..." --yet there are no photos, here among those printed, depicting this! When reading the article, one would expect to be able to look over and see a photo of these ladies, receiving their dozen red roses, and certificates. The Daily Record photographers --or is it a Daily Record photo editor-- really dropped the ball on this one! How unprofessional can you get? (gulp) --I really like reading and contributing to the Daily Record, and I hope they won't be too upset with me here. --dc
Well, that Don Cole guy is turning into quite a curmudgeon. Not everyone lives in a perfect world like he does, --Praise the Lord! Surely the DR photographers and editors must realize that the ideal format here would be to show a picture of the honored ladies that the article was about. However, with the limited printing space and budget cuts, who knows what goes on behind the scenes at the Daily Record?
Maybe it was too costly to insure that the DR would have a photographer present at the right place at the right time. Now, this is the day that we should all carry our own cameras, and take our own pictures, if we are going to do anything, or be involved, in anything of newsworthiness. --dc

How can we can know that Jesus was truly of God? Besides all the miracles and eye witnesses, Jesus fulfilled the Old Testament laws of sin and death. Jesus himself became God’s perfect sacrificial lamb in atonement for our sins, in that we may be saved by the grace of God, through faith and not of our own works, lest any man should boast. For example, Matthew’s gospel shows how 17 prophecies from the Old Testament about Jesus being the Messiah have been fulfilled in the New Testament. It quotes numerous prophecies in Isaiah, Micah, Hosea, Psalms, Zechariah and Daniel. There is more that can be shown here from the Bible; but this should give you the heart of the answer you seek. "For in that he died, he died unto sin once: but in that he liveth, he liveth unto God. Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord." (Romans 6: 10-11.) --dc

World Peace through TRUTH...
I am a little confused in the language here of TMCKE and flat5361. But the key word I want to bring out here is 'TRUTH.' Until the people following the Qur'an come to realize that Muhammad does not hold up to being a true prophet of God, all the killing and atrocities will only continue and worsen. For what they believe, martyrdom is cherished and looked forward to, as they have been taught that this is the true will of God.
The problem is, we have long ago taken God out of our schools and to so many in this country, they don't know the difference between the Bible and the Qur'an. Children are taught the big lie that science and the Bible are at odds with one another. When we take God out of the picture, Satan moves in. No amount of weapons or bombs will ever end these wars.
For the athiests, agnostics and such; can you show us a better path or plan to world peace than what Jesus Christ taught? Compare the teachings of Jesus Christ with the teachings of Muhammad, or anyone else. --dc

Honor soldiers by ending all wars?
Posted 5/21/2009 1:30 PM EDT on dailyrecord.com
About the letter to the Editor, "Honor soldiers by ending all wars," by Leroy M. Varga of Dover. Mr. Varga quotes retired Lt. Gen. Hal G. Moore, saying that he hoped we would learn that there is a better way than to send soldiers out to kill each other with rifles. Well, then, --what is that better way?
Do we bury our heads in the sand, --or do we face up to and know our enemy?
"For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places." (Eph. 6:12).
"Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand." (Eph. 6:13).
"Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;
And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;
And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel,
For which I am an ambassador in bonds: that therein I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak." (Eph. 6:14-20). --dc

How about a 'bailout package' for Cartoonists?
To many of us, looking BACK seems more advantageous than looking FORWARD...except we need to recall that Jesus taught: "No one who puts his hand to the plow and looks back is fit for service in the kingdom of God." (Luke 9:62). --dc

Donald Cole, Dover NJ May 16th, 2009 9:48 pm ET:
I was elated when Larry mentioned that these things "are what Christ taught." Larry King beat me to the blog! It sounds a lot better from Larry!
Donald Cole, Dover NJ May 16th, 2009 9:54 pm ET The panel’s belief about ‘reincarnation’ is another topic. But if we aren’t aware of having lived on earth in a past life, what difference would it make?
Donald Cole, Dover NJ May 16th, 2009 10:04 pm ET ‘Reincarnation’, that is living our lives over and over again, until we get it right, –is quite a stretch. The panel turns away from Christ on this one.

Bible or the Qur'an?
The Issue:
"The Bible was written by many people and parts were taken out and put in according to the author. The Qur'an is the whole truth from Allah. No one else is author."
What you have stated here is all the more reason why rational thinking people should believe that it is the Bible, and not the Qur'an, or any other religion's 'holy' book, that truely is of the one true God.
It is not hard to understand that you believe that "The Qur'an is the whole truth from Allah. No one else is author," because that is what you have been told, and that this is your tradition. But, how do you know that what you have been taught is true? Where are the evidences? Where is the authority? Where is the good fruit of the Qur'an?
Compare the writings of Muhammad with the words of Jesus Christ; then tell me which is of God. Compare the history, the prophesies fullfilled, the miracles, the 100% biblical accuracy about science, health, creation and nature. (It's scientists vs. preachers, not science vs. the Bible.) Where did Muhammad ever speak of anything beyond the common knowledge of his day?
As one would expect, when receiving from a false prophet, the sheer ignorance in science and nature shouts out to us in these latter days loud and clear! Is not true God familiar with his own handiwork? --dc

Answering Joy, on The VIEW, TV show
Posted 5/6/2009 1:00 PM EDT on dailyrecord.com
Joy emulates the ignorance of the general public today in regards to truth about science and the Bible. This is the generation that has been taught that God and science are at odds with one another, where God has been taken out of the schools. All facts that do not back up Darwin's theories are censored, in the name of ...(horrors),' --"religion." When it comes to evolution, people need to clarify what they are talking about. There is no question that evolution exists, and the Bible even talks about it. Evolution talks about changes in things that have already been created. Evolution does not explain creation nor the orgin of life. Declaring that top scientists do not back up the Genesis account is false. I would love to challange Joy, --she is so far away from having any true knowledge. Sadly; her beliefs do reflect the general thinking of the day. Instead of the media always inviting celebrities, why don't they invite some true scientists who know what they are talking about, on the show. I suggest starting with John Clayton, ex-athiest, renowned scientist. www.doesgodexist.org --Don Cole, Dover NJ

Following a man who breaks off from a church

Check out this interesting answer on Yedda
Following a man who breaks off from a church
A question for Christians. What do you think about churches that are created by people who follow a man and leave an established church? Then separate themselves from other Christians.
Well, first of all; there is only one church that is of Jesus the Christ, and that is the church started on Pentacost, 33 AD, at Jerusalem; see the book of Acts. No one joins the church; whereas Christ adds them to it. Christ's church is made up of members of His body. Jesus Christ is the only head of His church. Christ's church is His bride and body. Christians worship God in Spirit and in Truth. Churches, or congregations, of Christ are each autonomous in their own right. There is no Pope, senior elder, or preacher who rules. Jesus Christ, His Word, has all power and authority in heaven and in earth. Individual congregations are led by a plurality of their own elders, deacons, and preacher/s. There is no further nor higher church of Christ headquarters on earth, than what has been written down in the Christian Bible, God's inspired Word.
It is frustrating to see unlearned Christians following men, rather than Jesus Christ himself. God is no respecter of persons. If you ask me, a so-called 'mega-church' is not doing it's job if there is only one man able to preach, out of hundreds or thousands of men in the congregation. I have seen a church split, because a preacher was not allowed to be an elder, or demanded personal title to the church parsonage, and such. The church of Christ, or any individual congregation, does not belong to any preacher. God no longer speaks to us through the prophets of old, but in these times by God's New Testament and Covenent for all mankind, sealed forever by the blood of Jesus Christ on the cross. (See Hebrews, chapter 1).
