Yogi,  You ask, "Seek what?" ?   --Seek TRUTH!  Finding truth will enable one to understand that God exists, which is my answer to your original topic post question, "G-D exists.  Why  not understand that?"  'Undertanding,' takes more than a decision, but rationally necessitates some  basis for belief.

"But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:"  (1Peter 3:15). 

 "And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.
 For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.
 If a son shall ask bread of any of you that is a father, will he give him a stone? or if he ask a fish, will he for a fish give him a serpent?
Or if he shall ask an egg, will he offer him a scorpion?
If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?"  (Luke 11:9-13).   --dc

John the Baptist a Prophet, or not?

The Issue:

MT 17:12-13 Jesus says that John the Baptist was a prophet, and more. JN 1:21 John himself says that he is not a prophet, nor is he Elijah.

My Answer:

Where does it say anywhere in MT 17:12-13 that Jesus said John the Baptist was a prophet?

MT 17:12-13: "But I say unto you, That Elias is come already, and they knew him not, but have done unto him whatsoever they listed. Likewise shall also the Son of man suffer of them. Then the disciples understood that he spake unto them of John the Baptist."
Then you refer to JN 1:21, correctly, where John answers that no he is not a prophet. But you left out the next two verses (22-23) where John, the Baptist, goes on to clarify and answer the question of who he actually is. "21: And they asked him, What then? Art thou Elias? And he saith, I am not. Art thou that prophet? And he answered, No.
22: Then said they unto him, Who art thou? that we may give an answer to them that sent us. What sayest thou of thyself?
23: He said, I am the voice of one crying in the wilderness, Make straight the way of the Lord, as said the prophet Esaias."

Just as the Scriptures say, John the Baptist is the one prophesied about by the prophet Isaiah (Isaiah 40:3). This is one of the good and rational reasons why we can believe that it is the Bible that is the true word of God, and not a different book, such as the Koran. The Bible accurately fortold future events, 100% of the time.. Also, one of the tests of a true prophet of God, is that a true prophet of God is never wrong. A true prophet of God never makes false statements. True God is all knowing. John 1:6-9 also explains who John the Baptist was. "6: There was a man sent from God, whose name was John.
7: The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe.
8: He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light."

Why did Jesus died so early on the cross?

One needs to understand who Jesus Christ was/is, and why He came. God is 'just.' Justice is a nature of God, and cannot be changed. Therefore; the 'sins' of man had/have to be dealt with, even with God, if man is to be saved from the Old Testament laws of sin and death. "For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God." (Rom.3:23). We first began learning about the significance of perfect 'sacrifice' through the history of Cain and Abel. Then in New Testament times: "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life." (John 3:16).

Mat.12:17-20 says that Jesus Christ fulfilled the prophecy of Esaias the prophet, of Old Testament times. (Isaiah 42:17-20).

Jesus Christ is God's own perfect sacrifice, the lamb of God, in atonement for our own sins, that we might be saved through Him, by the loving grace of God himself, through faith, and not of ourselves that we could boast. Faith in God produces fruit from the vine of Jesus Christ. Faith is an action verb. Faith that produces no works is dead. (See the book of James). It is obvious that we live and act upon that which we believe, (good or bad, right or wrong) and even though we are not saved by our good works, Christians are saved by what we believe. That is, God's Word.

In conclusion, what I am trying to show is that Jesus Christ is God's plan of salvation for the hope of man, and all aspects, including the timing of Jesus's crucifixion on the cross, is perfect. Would God have sacrificed an old man Jesus, or a child so young that he could not have completed his teaching and mission? --dc

Nonconsensual conversion

In true Christianity, that is in the Bible, New Testament, there is no such thing as 'nonconsensual conversion'. The New Testament book of Acts shows how people, old enough to know what they are doing, are saved, and how they are added to the Lord's church. No person joins Christ's church. In the book of Acts you will see true examples of how people were/are saved. Babies already belong to the Lord, and do not need to believe, confess, repent, and be baptized, supposedly because of the 'original sin' of Adam and Eve. This business of "Confirmation," and such, is not in the Bible, but is doctrine made up by the Catholic Church. This was necessary, due to the false doctrine teaching of infant baptism.

" Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen." (Mat. 28 19-20).

" The soul that sinneth, it shall die. The son shall not bear the iniquity of the father, neither shall the father bear the iniquity of the son: the righteousness of the righteous shall be upon him, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon him." (Ezekiel 18:20). --dc
